PROTECTIVE BARRIER DURING MAINTENANCE WORK
Background
Craftor AB, former Otera plans, designs, builds and maintains power plants. Their customers are power grid owners, electricity-intensive industries and major power consumers.
The company’s mission also includes maintenance work, such as replacing old power substations. Substations contain oil that needs to be handled with care during replacement, due to the risk of leakage. As an additional protective barrier, a basin is built around the substation.
Easier handling with Inero’s protection basin
In the past, Craftor used landfills to build walls around substations they were replacing, and coated them with rubber, which was both expensive and time consuming. Prior to this summer’s replacement projects, Craftor chose to buy a protection basin from Inero AB. Thanks to Inero’s mobile protection barrier, the installations were easy and much faster, while protection from oil leaks was better than ever.
Procedures
Craftor built a protective wall around the substation using Inero’s mobile barriers with corner modules. Available in five different heights, the Inero barrier that best suited Craftor’s purpose was the 80 cm one. The first step is to erect three sides of the barrier. Then the ground and sides are covered with a specially made rubber coating. Step three is to put the substation in place and finally secure it inside the basin by mounting the last side and covering it with the rubber.
